The Luke Yeager Memorial Scholarship supports CIS Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra students
with approximately $500 toward private lessons in honor of Luke’s love of music.
The Creekside Intermediate Orchestra is proud to honor the memory of Luke Yeager with a scholarship that continues his legacy of passion, leadership, and love for music. This annual scholarship provides approximately $500 toward private lessons for orchestra students, helping them grow as musicians and leaders.
Scholarship Details
The Luke Yeager Memorial Scholarship provides $500 toward private lessons for Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra students at Creekside Intermediate. Its purpose is to support CIS orchestra students in continuing their musical journey and developing their skills through consistent private instruction.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be members of either the CIS Symphony or Chamber Orchestras, maintain passing grades in all of their classes, and already be enrolled in private lessons at the time the application is submitted.
Application Process
The process for applying for the Luke Yeager Scholarship is as follows. Applicants must submit:
- Online application form
- Last year’s final grade report
- One-page essay (see below for more information)
- One letter of recommendation from a current teacher (see below for more information)
Application Deadline
The application deadline is Tuesday, September 12, 2025.
All applications and materials must be submitted by Wednesday, September 12, 2025. The scholarship selection committee will review completed applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Winners will be announced by Wednesday, September 25, 2025.
Scholarship Essay Prompt
We are looking for students who are strong leaders, model students, dedicated, and passionate about music. The essay should be one page, typed, with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This typed document should be uploaded during the online application process. Remember to check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation before submitting!
Prompt: Describe specific instances where you have demonstrated at least two of these characteristics.
Letter of Recommendation
Applicants will need one letter of recommendation from a teacher they had last year. If your teacher is a CIS employee and you don’t know their email, ask Mr. Ramsey. Copy and paste the following email:
Dear [insert teacher name],
I am applying for the Luke Yeager Memorial Private Lesson Scholarship. Will you please complete the 3-minute online recommendation form at https://forms.office.com/r/fYLJWeuyZj. Luke had a love of the violin and viola, performing in both Symphony and Chamber orchestras. He came to class every day with a smile and an eagerness to play music with his friends. Luke was a leader, a model student, and above all, an amazing friend to all who knew him. His passion and commitment toward learning music inspired everyone around him and will continue to do so through this scholarship.
